Burna Boy disclosed he felt sick and almost gave up after losing the Grammys award

African Giant – Burna Boy has disclosed that he felt sick and almost gave up after losing the Grammys award to Angélique Kidjo.

Angélique Kidjo picked up the Grammy award for ‘Best World Music’ for her album ‘Celia,’ over Burna Boy’s ‘African Giant’.
Clearly, many people were hopeful the Nigerian star turn world iconic figure would win.
That served as a big blow to Burna.
Surprisingly, Angélique Kidjo during her acceptance speech on stage dedicated the award to Burna.
She remarked:
“The new generation of artists coming from Africa is going to take you by storm and the time has come.”
“This is for Burna Boy, [he] is among those young artists [who] came from Africa [who] are changing the way our continent is perceived, and the way African music has been the bedrock for every [type] of music.”
Burna Boy in his song dubbed ‘Level Up‘ from his ‘Twice As Tall’ album confessed that the loss was a big mess on his life.
The line of the song read:
  • “I remember when me couldn’t level up cause the Grammys had me feeling sick as fuck
  • Throwing up and shit
  • Asking questions like why it wasn’t us
  • Almost had a nigga feeling envious (serious)
  • Tell em say them cant bury us
  • Tell em say them cant bury us
  • Cause the love make me stand up every time that me fall
  • Come back standing twice as tall.”
