Donald Trump Finally Admits Biden Won But Claims Election Was Rigged
The outgoing US President said vote watchers and observers had not been allowed into counts, without providing any evidence this was the case. He also asserted that the vote has been counted by a ‘radical left privately owned company’ using ‘bum equipment’, again without giving any more details.
Results in all states have now been declared, ten days after the nationwide poll. Mr Biden has been projected to win 306 electoral college votes – the same number Mr Trump won in 2016 which at the time he described as a ‘landslide.’
TV networks called the election for Mr Biden more than a week ago but Mr Trump has continued to cling on to the hope that he can prove there was ‘widespread fraud’ and swing things back in his favour.
The Tweet on Sunday morning was almost instantly flagged by Twitter with a notice that said: ‘This claim about election fraud is disputed.’ Mr Trump retweeted a video of Fox News host Jesse Watters discussing the election result on his programme Watters’ World.
In the clip, the right wing commentator says: ‘There’s something that just doesn’t feel right about this. Joe Biden didn’t earn it, he didn’t really even campaign.
He thought was going to lose, you could see it. He ran a losing campaign. So 10 days after the election, how’s he ahead.
Commenting on the footage, Mr Trump wrote: ‘He won because the Election was Rigged. NO VOTE WATCHERS OR OBSERVERS allowed, vote tabulated by a Radical Left privately owned company, Dominion, with a bad reputation & bum equipment that couldn’t even qualify for Texas (which I won by a lot!), the Fake & Silent Media, & more!’ Dominion Voting Systems has categorically denied there were any issues with its voting systems and has previously dismissed claims that votes for Trump were deleted as ‘impossible.’
Mr Trump admitted he may not serve a second during a press conference earlier this week.
In his first speech since his rival was announced the winner, Trump said he would not impose a nationwide lockdown but added: ‘who knows which administration it will be, time will tell.’
The U.S. President’s refusal to concede has stalled the government’s normal process of preparing for a new presidential administration, which both Democrats and some Republican have said has serious national security implications. Yesterday he made a surprise appearance at a rally called by his supporters in Washington DC.
Thousands gathered near the White House to repeat unfounded claims the election had been ‘stolen’ and mobbed their hero’s motorcade as he ventured out to greet them.
