Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez ready to leave club if not assured

He has been impressive between the sticks in recent weeks after he replaced Leno in goal following the latter's season-ending knee injury while in action against Brighton.

The Argentine guarded the posts during Arsenal's FA Cup triumph over Chelsea in the competition's finals played at Wembley Stadium, earning praise from a number of fans.

However, after his heroics in the domestic cup, Martinez has declared his unwillingness to remain at the Emirates unless he is assured of the No.1 spot.

My target is to consolidate my place with Arsenal and to reach the Argentinian national team as number one. I won’t stop until I get that and if I don’t play for Arsenal, then clearly I would move on," he added.

Despite signing for the Gunners close to a decade ago, Martinez failed to break into the team's first team squad until this season.

His arrival at the north London club in 2010 from Independiente saw him sent out on a number of loan spells with various clubs including Oxford, Sheffield Wednesday and Wolves.
