Diesel-laden tanker crashes as Lagos driver loses control
An unidentified tanker driver conveying Automotive Gas Oil, also known as diesel, to a destination in the state lost control of the vehicle and crashed around the New Road bus stop in Apapa, Lagos.
Confirming the incident, the Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the suspected cause of the accident was brake failure.
The emergency response team including LASEMA response team and officials of the state fire service, were on ground to salvage the situation.
Oke-Osanyintolu said the accident led to a temporary gridlock, adding that normal activities resumed on the road after a heavy-duty equipment was deployed in the area to recover the fallen truck.
Although some Distress calls were received concerning the incident and upon arrival, it was confirmed that a truck loaded with AGO had fallen due to suspected brake failure.
