The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has elected a seven-man Interim Management Committee (IMC).

Chairman of Suleja Local Government Area, Niger State Abdullahi Maje emerged as the National President/Chairman IMC of ALGON and will pilot the affairs of the association for the next six months, while the chairman, Ijero Local Government Area, Ekiti State, Ige Emmanuel is the Deputy President/Vice Chairman.

The General Assembly, which is the highest decision organ of ALGON, had on May 30, 2020, during its extra-ordinary virtual meeting resolved to set up the interim management committee.

It approved the constitution of the committee, as the national leadership of the association had not been operating for the past eight months.

The inauguration of the ALGON IMC was witnessed by almost all the local government chairmen across the country.
